winemaking. Like our founder and namesake Max Schell, we harbour a life-long love for a
valuable natural asset and devote ourselves heart and soul to producing Ahr wine. Would

our Ahr wines in the friendly atmosphere of our vinotheque, or the romantic winery cellar. If
you would like to experience the charm and peace of the Ahr valley, our exquisitely furnished
holiday apartments are the perfect place to take a break. A lifelong love is boundless.

We are delighted to have been honoured with two gold awards at the German Red Wine Award 2023. Our 2020 Grand Max "S" Pinot Noir took 1st place in the "Pinot Noir up to 39.99 euros" category and the 2021 Grand Max also took 1st place in the "Pinot Noir up to 19.99 euros" category. |

This year we are once again delighted to have received a 2-star award in the falstaff Weinguide Deutschland 2021, which declares our winery to be an insider tip that will be heard from in the future.

We are delighted that “Der Feinschmecker” (The Gourmet) monthly magazine has praised us in its best winemakers and wines category and recommended both our 2016 Frühburgunder Alte Reben trocken and the 2016 Ahrweiler Rosenthal Spätburgunder trocken for tasting. This special-interest magazine also said that all our wines are accessible, full-bodied and friendly and reflect the charm and peace of the Ahr valley in a glass. We are also especially proud of the fact that “Der Feinschmecker” recognises our focus on regional roots and has highlighted our traditional grape varieties, steep sites, environmentally conscious cultivation and careful handling of typical varietal grape characteristics and the Ahr valley.
