Description
A Pinot Noir from our best site, Ahrweiler Rosenthal.
The prerequisites for this wine were a very low yield and a highly ripe, healthy harvest.
Vinification: Fermentation classically and in roll vermenter (900l oak barrel), aged 22 months in new barrique barrels.
Tart, smoky, earthy-vegetable, minty and bacony nose of more black than red berries with dried floral, tobacco and mineral notes. Clear, fairly tightly knit, tart-juicy fruit, rather cool, slightly smoky and bacony, woody notes, a bit of sandy tannin, persistent on the palate, herbal and spicy nuances, elderberry and sloe clearly in the background, has bite and grip, very good tart finish.
